Who is GSA?

GSA, the Global mobile Suppliers Association, is the forum for, and represents, the leading GSM/3G suppliers worldwide.

GSA Objectives:

| - | | To strengthen the promotion of GSM worldwide in new and existing markets

|
| - | | To promote the evolution of GSM as the platform for delivery of third generation (3G) multimedia services |
Who does GSA represent?

GSA represents the interests of the world's leading suppliers to the GSM/3G wireless communications industry. It is an organisation created
to meet suppliers' needs and already represents over 80% of GSM/3G market share globally. Membership is open to all suppliers of GSM/3G
systems, terminal, services and solutions from across the entire supply chain.
What is GSM?

GSM is the Global System for Mobile Communications. It is the world's leading standard in mobile communications, as well as being the key
enabler for 3G services. Capable of being rapidly rolled-out, GSM's future-proof technology provides operators with the fastest return on
investment.
The reality of the telecommunications industry is that the evolutionary technology path via GSM to GSM/EDGE and WCDMA is the single most
important global mobile standard in the world. The facts speak for themselves and back this up. GSM provides advanced mobile communications
services to over 750 million customers in 184 countries across the globe, more than all other mobile technologies combined, delivering
mobile Internet access that spans the globe.
GSM subscribers now account for 71.2% of all digital subscribers and this percentage is growing. Between December 2000 and August 2002,
GSM accounted for 278 million or 73.9% out of 375 million new digital subscriptions.
What is 3G?

3G is the term being used to describe the third generation of mobile communications systems. 3G will significantly extend the capabilities
of digital mobile technology to encompass a new era of enhanced services - across voice, text and high-speed data visual and multimedia
applications.
Any company or customer who makes a choice for GSM and the GSM/EDGE-WCDMA evolution to 3G will be part of the largest global mobile
community with access to an unparalleled abundance of content and services, the widest range of terminals and unequalled competitive prices.
A total of 110 operators who have received licenses to deliver 3G mobile services have selected WCDMA as their choice of technology,
throughout Europe, and in the Asia Pacific region including Australia, Korea and Japan, with just 6 operators committing to other
technologies. GSA is confident that at least 90% of the world's operators will deliver 3G services using open standards which are
evolved from GSM i.e. EDGE/WCDMA
