GSA - the Global mobile Suppliers Association - is the forum for, and
represents, the leading GSM/3G suppliers worldwide. It is an organisation
created to meet suppliers' needs and already represents over 80% of GSM/3G
market share globally. The GSA Executive Committee comprises of the leading
GSM/EDGE/WCDMA suppliers - Ericsson, Nokia and Siemens.
GSA plays a significant and expanding role in promoting GSM/EDGE/WCDMA
worldwide for the best user experience of mobile voice and advanced mobile
data services, adding value through global and regional programs, reports,
research, events, seminars and discussion, forming a contribution to the
continuing success of the wireless industry.
Key focus areas for 2005 are:
- Global Mobile Dialogue information exchange, market and technology
updates, industry news and newsletters to deepen understanding and sharing
of global experiences
- Mobile services and applications for revenue growth
- GSA Regional Chapters in India and APAC for improving information sharing,
dialogue, networking and lobbying, with additional activities in Africa,
Europe, and the Americas
- Operator-vendor summits deliver high-level interaction between
GSM/EDGE/WCDMA operators and GSA Members
- Information-sharing with GSM/WCDMA mobile network operators including
access to the Operators Zone
- Briefings for the media and government organisations, including
participation in consultations including regulation, spectrum, etc
- Opinion papers voicing suppliers' perspectives on major industry topics -
improving awareness of business aspects, technology issues and the user
experience
- Providing proactive support to 3GPP, for which GSA is a Market
Representation Partner.
- Supporting start-up companies within the New Ventures Program (NVP) to
ease access to the global GSM/WCDMA market
GSA co-operates with and supports other key organisations including 3GPP,
APT IMT-2000 Forum, COAI, ETSI, European Commission, GSM Association,
International Telecommunication Union, and ITESAP
