The EDGE Operators' Forum was a highly successful and influential cooperative global industry partnership among major operators and vendors that had committed to deploy EDGE as part of the GSM evolved solution for 3G service delivery, working in close cooperation with the two major GSM global associations - GSA (Global mobile Suppliers Association) and the GSM Association, and 3G Americas. The EDGE Operators' Forum was endorsed by GSA, the GSM Association and 3G Americas and supported by leading vendors including Alcatel, Ericsson, Motorola, Nokia, Nortel Networks, and Siemens.
The EDGE Operators' Forum provided a unique opportunity for interaction between operators and vendors deploying or planning for EDGE as part of their 3G service strategies for evolving 2G wireless systems, based on the global GSM platform.

With the widespread acceptance and deployment of GSM/EDGE globally, and EDGE functionality now virtually standard in most new GSM data phones, the EDGE Operators' Forum held its final meeting in November 2003.

In 2004 GSA launched the GSA Evolution Forum to continue the enhanced information exchange, networking and dialogue to assist the evolution to next generation mobile multimedia services using the GSM platform. This unique program builds on the successful and influential EDGE Operators' Forum and focuses on the business drivers, technology issues and the user experience concerning the evolution to full mobility 3G services using GSM/EDGE, and WCDMA-HSPA. The GSA Evolution Forum is targeted for GSM/3G network operators and GSA member companies and is supported by the leading manufacturers in GSA including Ericsson, Nokia, and Siemens.
