With the widespread acceptance and deployment of GSM/EDGE globally, and EDGE functionality now virtually standard in most new GSM data phones, the EDGE Operators' Forum held its final meeting in November 2003.
In 2004 GSA launched the GSA Evolution Forum to continue the enhanced information exchange, networking and dialogue to assist the evolution to next generation mobile multimedia services using the GSM platform. This unique program builds on the successful and influential EDGE Operators' Forum and focuses on the business drivers, technology issues and the user experience concerning the evolution to full mobility 3G services using GSM/EDGE, and WCDMA-HSPA. The GSA Evolution Forum is targeted for GSM/3G network operators and GSA member companies and is supported by the leading manufacturers in GSA including Ericsson, Nokia, and Siemens.
