Edge Operators' Forum
The EDGE Operators' Forum (EOF) was a cooperative global industry partnership among the major operators and vendors that have commercially committed to deploy EDGE as part of the GSM evolved solution for 3G service delivery, working in close cooperation with the two major GSM global associations - GSA and the GSM Association, and 3G Americas. EOF successfully raised awareness globally of the benefits of network operators deploying GPRS/EDGE in their newtorks for delivery of 3G services. The first EOF meeting was held in December 2001 and the last in November 2003, and was supported by leading vendors including Ericsson, Motorola, Nokia, Nortel Networks, and Siemens. The EOF has now closed and was superseded in 2004 by the GSM Evolution Forum organised exclusively by GSA.
Attendance at EOF meetings was by invitation only to mobile network operators who have committed to GSM/GPRS/EDGE or considering doing so, representatives of regulators/administrations, and representatives of the sponsoring associations. Presentations from the meetings (2001-2003) are available for download as follows:
Specifications and Operator Guidelines for EDGE (EGPRS) Deployment and Testing
GSM operators interested in the most current specifications and operator guidelines for EDGE (EGPRS) deployment and testing, should check the GSM Association's Infocentre Website https://infocentre.gsm.org - in the North American Interest Group section under "North American EDGE Task Force". This Website is accessible only by GSM member operators of the GSM Association. The EDGE Task Force closed end-2003, however all of the operator guidelines are available on the GSMA Infocentre Website. For further information on ongoing programs and activities for GSM operators, contact Sue Wadkins, Director, GSM North America
