An initiative has been set up by GSM suppliers to promote the digital technology on a worldwide basis. The Global mobile Suppliers Association (GSA) has been set up to promote GSM at a global level, enabling suppliers to focus their efforts and be represented in a similar forum to the GSM MoU Association. GSA will bring together suppliers of GSM products and services from across the supply chain. Members include manufacturers of mobile infrastructure and terminals, billing and customer care suppliers, messaging platforms and support system suppliers and consultancies. GSA's terms of reference will include the promotion of GSM worldwide; to promote GSM as the de facto basis for the delivery of third generation (3G) services within the context of the ITU's IMT-2000 initiatives; and to improve customer understanding of the features and functionality of GSM.
