GSA’s latest HSPA Devices survey confirms that the number of HSPA Devices has now reached 1,276 representing over 100% growth since April 2008. The number of suppliers increased from 110 to 164 in the same period, i.e. 49% growth.
The robust HSPA eco-system is rapidly expanding and attracting new players every week. There are now more than 500 mobile phones which support HSDPA (High Speed Downlink Packet Access). Together with UMPCs, this represents an increase of over 77% since April 2008. The number of HSPA-capable mobile broadband notebooks grew 164% in the same period.
Excluding notebooks, 799 HSDPA devices (i.e. almost 80%) support 3.6 Mbps or higher peak download data speeds. This figure includes 415 devices (over 41%) which support 7.2 Mbps peak or higher.
HSPA devices address all market segments:- 515 mobile phones

Further analysis of HSPA Devices including generation of lists and charts is possible using GAMBoD. GAMBoD is a search and analysis tool developed by GSA for HSPA devices, allowing searches by supplier, form factor, features, peak downlink and uplink speeds, and operating frequency. Results are presented as a list, or as a spreadsheet, or in charts. An RSS feed can be subscribed to for alerts when new devices are added to the database. Charts may be inserted into documents or presentations, subject to accreditation of GSA as the source.
GAMBoD is available to qualified site users (i.e. representatives of GSA Member companies who have registered using their corporate email address, or representatives of network operators who have registered using their corporate email address). Qualified users should first log in and visit www.gsacom.com/gambod
