About GSA
An important element of GSA's program involves the global communication of the GSM/3G suppliers' views and requirements, particularly in areas affecting investment and business growth opportunities.

In support of its core objectives, GSA co-operates with a number of key industry organisations to deliver on jointly agreed targets, focusing on such areas as:

-Market entry
-Expanding the market
-Building new markets for non-voice services
-Preparing for the future and 3G wireless multimedia services.

Workshops and the joint support of key events contribute to the success of GSA's partnerships with organisations including: GSM (MoU) Association, ETSI, UMTS Forum, 3GPP (GSA is a Market Representation Partner) and UWCC.

GSM/3G
GSM already covers more of the world's population than any other mobile technology and provides operators with rapid roll-out and fastest return on investment. GSM is also the fastest growing mobile technology: in May 2001, the GSM global subscriber base passed the 500 million milestone - underlining its position as the world's key digital cellular standard. As the fastest-growing cellular technology, GSM's success will play a vital role in the future deployment of Third Generation (3G) services, providing the foundation for revenue and infrastructure building - with the existing availability of mobile Internet services through wireless application protocol (WAP) and short message service (SMS).

GSM is the enabler for 3G services that meet growing demand for mobile communications in the decades to come by offering the capacity to deliver real multimedia services for everyone everywhere.

GSA is committed to mobilising the world's leading GSM/3G suppliers to extend the benefits of GSM/3G to the people, operators, investors, regulators and national economies globally, and to support operators as they evolve their GSM networks to exploit 3G Multimedia Services.
